About the Role

The Director of US Medical Education Strategy and Implementation will lead, plan, direct, organize, and coordinate all ophthalmology and optometry activities related to ongoing medical education projects in the US. Reporting to the Vice President, this position will be responsible for managing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Identify emerging professional practice gaps and educational needs through key opinion leader (KOL) communications, trend analysis of TFG clinical surveys, and market trend observations. Lead the development of related educational needs documents and education tactic plans, with support from the Medical Education Manager.

  2. Manage the comprehensive execution of US independent medical education projects, including live programs, digital recordings, and print materials, ensuring high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget, with content development support from the Medical Education Manager.

  3. Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse group of established and emerging KOLs in the medical community to stay informed of industry trends, newly published research, and to identify potential speakers for educational programs.

  4. Collaborate with the Strategic Insight and Analytics Manager to assess long-term changes in practice patterns and clinical outcomes, evaluating the effectiveness of medical education strategies and identifying areas for improvement.

  5. Support the development and revision process of annual clinical surveys supported by TFG, including working with the Strategic Insight and Analytics Manager to understand year-over-year trends and updating questions focused on clinical opinions and practice patterns.

  6. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to medical education programs, including accreditation criteria, policies, standards, required documentation, and outcomes reporting.

  7. Identify new and innovative ways to deliver medical education content, leveraging new technologies and methodologies.

  8. Develop a topic-based central repository of the latest clinical studies, research, and cases, for use in presentations on similar educational objectives.

  9. Participate in regular meetings with Vice President to create US strategies, leveraging an overall understanding of the industry and TFG’s operations and goals.

  10. Attend 3-4 multi-day domestic MD and OD conferences per year, including innovation meetings and Medical Affairs summits.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager or project leader, preferably in the medical and/or ophthalmic field, with an established network of industry and KOL contacts

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, management, or science

  • Proven ability to measure project performance using a variety of tools, systems, and techniques

  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with project management and other specialist software

  • Project planning and implementation skills, strong people skills, and high emotional intelligence

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills,

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently in a dynamic, rapidly changing work environment

Compensation and Benefits

The hiring salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.

Base pay is one part of the total compensation package available, which includes:
