Elevating the Patient Experience in Ocular Surface Disease: Eyelid Margin Disease, Neurosensory Disorders, and Inflammation

This course provides an essential update on the advanced diagnosis and comprehensive management of Ocular Surface Disease (OSD) for cataract and refractive surgeons.

The session covers the prevalence and advanced diagnosis of today’s OSD patient, equipping attendees with tools to identify complex presentations. Faculty explore the critical concept of the first refractive surface and why a healthy ocular surface is essential for cataract and refractive surgeons, demonstrating its direct impact on preoperative measurements and surgical outcomes.

Faculty then detail modern therapeutic approaches for OSD, spanning a spectrum from meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and inflammation to emerging neurosensory disorders.

Finally, the course focuses on practical communication strategies, teaching attendees how to effectively manage and communicate expectations with ocular surface patients to support successful treatment pathways and high levels of patient satisfaction.
