Emerging Interventions for Geographic Atrophy
This course provides a crucial update on the current clinical imperative to diagnose and intervene earlier in dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Geographic Atrophy (GA).
The session begins by equipping attendees to identify key risk factors, biomarkers, and screening protocols used to diagnose these conditions, while interpreting real-world evidence to support timely intervention and preserve vision.
Faculty then focus on practical application, highlighting how to apply multimodal diagnostic and imaging strategies, including emerging AI applications, to monitor disease progression and identify patients at greatest risk for rapid progression to GA.
Finally, the course evaluates the clinical impact of Geographic Atrophy on functional and anatomical outcomes, reviews patient communication strategies to improve compliance, and summarizes current and emerging pharmacologic therapies — including mechanisms of action and safety and efficacy data — to help clinicians develop appropriate, real-world treatment protocols.
